Quits?

Okay guys, I know not very many of you read my blog. But this probably needs to be out in the internet somewhere.

Well guys and gals, it's happened. I might be calling it quits on being the Draculina.
The short version goes as told: Drac and I broke up, so unless you guys are still interested in my spunky personality there really isn't much else to do. Let me know in the comments. 

Unannounced Vacations are Fun!

So I've been on hiatus for the past couple of weeks. I didn't really mean too. There was just nothing to blog about. But now... there's still nothing! Oh joy the tales of a college student!

Just kidding. I am starting to get into illustration so I will keep you updated! 

Graveyard Typography

As most of you know, I study graphic design. In this field of study is typography. I  decided to show you guys typography that is commonly found in graveyards. Which by the way, I love going to them.

Classes

So my classes have started back up again. I'm currently taking an Intro to Journalism class, an Art History class, and a typography class. So be sure to keep a look out for the projects I'll be working on! 

Roommates!

Let me introduce you to my roommates!

This is Hannah. She is currently a senior in University. She's majoring in 3D Design! She makes and sells awesome custom hats! And she plays LoL (League of Legends).

This is Shelli. She is currently a junior in University. She is majoring in 2D design and psychology! She is an equestrian! And she's a whovian! 

Working Girl!

I went in for training today, and it's not too bad right now. I'm only in the training part, which is really BORING! But I did get to play Sims, sort of. Sadly I cannot tell you guys where I actually work but just know that it's awesome! 

Rain :(

Rain is very depressing to me. Today, I wanted to go running. Ya know, get in shape and stuff? Well I got everything I needed together (shoes, shorts, inhaler) went outside to stretch and go. And guess what awaited me at the door.. Rain. So I crawled back in bed and went back to sleep. It was a nice nap.

After I woke back up, I retried running, but running in 90 degrees isn't exactly fun. So I just blanked some land for another batch of My Little Pony lands. Soon I may try LoL characters. I'm not entirely sure yet.

New Apartment!

So I've finally moved into my new place! I have my own room (which isn't that new). I have two great roommates, which is new to me. Some of my old roommates decided to be awful, so this is new! Of course not all of them were bad, I have had some good ones!

It took me a few days to move all my stuff in, but I finally did. I even put together my bunk bed all on my own. Did you know those things are hard to put together? Well they are. I have a desk, with a lamp and clock. Not much going on there yet. I don't have a walk in closet but it is pretty spacious.

I'll end up putting pictures or a video up later. But until then..

Custom Alter: Swamp

Custom Proxy Card: Underground Sea

This is the first time I've ever done a proxy card. A proxy card is a card used to take the place of a card you do not own. A proxy card can only be used in casual play.

The Underground Sea card is one of the Beta lands and is very hard to obtain. So I happily made this proxy for them:

Package Design Review: AfterGlow AW.1&2

This product is great and works wonderfully, but this post is on the package. I only found one actual flaw in the design and that's the tab that hangs the package. It's placed in such an odd angle that it makes it quite difficult to remove the plastic from the package. Watch my video for more details!

Job Hunting..

Since this is the first summer I've had free in about two years, I figured I would try to get a job. So far I've applied and been shut down at my local Burger King and grocery store. I'm currently trying to find a job at other fast food places and several stores. Hopefully one of them will hire me.

On an unrelated note, my university's housing has decided to charge me for a large mess in my room. I'm not sure what mess because no one will respond to my messages. But in case you missed it, here's the moving out tour of my clean dorm:

Custom Logo Work!

NerfOMania asked me about 2 months ago to do a custom logo work for his Tornado. With me being so busy with schoolwork, I just got around to actually painting it on. It wasn't hard to do the custom logo. I simply drew out the original logo and copied the font to the word BOW. And I added a swirl. I like swirls.

Anyway, I decided to keep the original purple from the plastic on there, so I made the words a Grape Pearl from my local hobby store. If you notice in the progress picture below, there are signatures on the body. Those are all the NICer's signatures. I painted the swirl the same silver as the sharpie. I think it was a nice touch. After the paint dried I outlined the work with a nice pigment liner. No big deal.

The logo is the same on both sides.

Miso Soup!

Now, I'm not saying miso soup is delicious, but... it is.

I usually keep a few packets of miso soup mix in my pantry because they are so nutritious and delicious. Miso Soup is a very popular dish in Japan. Especially in chibi's, just saying. My particular blend is made of tofu cubes, seaweed slices and celery, in the normal miso paste blend. I sometimes refer to it is the vegetarian option to chicken noodle soup. Meaning, it really helps when you feel sick (I don't today). If you've never tried it before, please do. And leave a comment telling me!

Saint Patrick and his day.

As you know I am full Irish, so this is a big holiday to me. It's one of my favorites when celebrated right.

When celebrated in Ireland, there is a huge feast, sort of like Thanksgiving here. Usually during this season alcohol is prohibited so that farmers can work sober, but on this day they lift the prohibition. This may be why the standard celebration in America is all drinking. The color green is an international (even in Ireland) celebration for St. Patrick.
Who is St. Patrick? Well according to historians, he was an Irish slave kidnapped from Britain. He fled from his slavery and returned to Britain to become a priest. Years later he returned to Ireland and brought with him Christianity and the English Language. It is said that he explained Christianity through shamrock found in Ireland. This is why the shamrock is worn during St. Patrick's Day.

I'm not going to get into the political reasons for St. Patrick's Day, just know there are two sides to every decision.

Spring Break!

Drac and I are on Spring break. It's fun and all. Just REALLY boring for me. I'm stuck at home right now. And I forgot that all my friends are still in high school and they don't have break right now. Anyway, if anyone shows interest tomorrow I'll go around taking pictures of my hometown and with some of my friends. Be sure to comment and tell me. Otherwise, I'll be posting my magic card alter update posts!

Allergies!

I swear my allergies will be the death of me. I woke up at 2 AM not being able to breath at all. When I went back to sleep, I slept for so long that I missed BOTH of my classes today. Today was the first time I've EVER missed my class..this semester anyway. To put things simple.. I've had a bad day.

Does anyone else out there have bad days? Let me know how you deal with them.

Fire Hydrants Make Me Hot

Today, I had to do a crazy photography adventure. I had to find anything and EVERYTHING red and take pictures of it. It was funny because I had a group of people following me in the process. Did you know there are about 20 hydrants on every campus? Around the 6th hydrant, the group was convinced I had a thing for fire hydrants. Which I DONT! It just so happens that they are the only thing that is extremely red thing on campus!

Anyway to get to the point, I had to take 20 pictures for my most recent project in my graphic design class. So there was a reason for this madness. When the final project is done I will post a few pictures of it. Until then...

FIRST TIME EVER!! (image at the bottom)

Okay so I have an extremely hard design teacher. He usually HATES all my designs, but today for the first time ever he LOVED my design! I almost lost my mind from excitement of that. He probably only likes my design because of my pitch.

HvZ Survivor!

HvZ is an intense game of tag between two teams, the Humans, and the Zombies. It is played on college campus' around the United States, and I believe international as well. My college campus just had a week long game. I survived it even with the whole mod team against us.

All Night Studio Party!

Imagine: A studio full of Jewelry 1&2 students, at 11:30 at night, rushing to finish a project due the next day. All of a sudden, midnight and we are supposed to leave. 

Lazy Day

Drac and I had a pretty lazy day today. I must say the most productive thing we did all day was the laundry I washed. Of course, now we have all the clean clothes we need! So I'm okay with this lazy day.

Anyway, I don't get a lazy day very often since I've taken on so many projects at once. This was all yesterday, so today, we have our wonderful jewelry class. We are working on our sculptural rings now. Both our band ring projects are now on display!

Logo Design Project

Let me start out by explaining the project before going into the pictures below. The project was to create a logo either for yourself or a business that you plan on having. My ultimate goal in graphic design is to be a magazine editor/owner. So I chose to make a logo for the magazine title I've been playing around with, "The Dark Side". Here is what I came up with after hours of sketching.

The above picture is a small taste of the photography style I have learned over the years. It's a simple trinket statue that I own. I edited the picture some with Picnik, which has now been shut down.

Introductions

As you probably already know, I am Lady Draculina.  I'm a 19 year old college art student dating Lord Drac (The Nerf Vampire), so things can be a little crazy at times. Especially when there is class, a Nerf war, and a game of Humans versus Zombies going on. 

Anyway, this is my blog. Though as I type this, I have no idea what the blog is going to be on just yet. All I do know is that I am going to enjoy designing and writing this blog every chance I get. Hope whoever is reading this enjoys this little tidbit of an introduction.
